Richard was the son of Hannah and Adolph Schiff, brother of Anthony and James Schiff, he was born on January 2, 1917, in Newark, Ohio, where he lived until 1990. Richard was a graduate of the Ohio State University's College of Business Administration and served in Patton's 6th Armored Division in World War II. After the war, he and his brother Jim owned Mohlenpah's, a store in downtown Newark. In retirement he enjoyed photography and framing his work, playing bridge, researching genealogy, and working on his computer.
