David King was born in the big thicket of Texas to parents who moved
from Lousiana. He grew up in the Depression and learned to ride,
shoot and survive in the woods and bayous.
He learned hard work as a young man and after many hard jobs
he went to work in the oil fields as a roughneck. He served in the US
Marines in WWII earning the Silver Star and two Purple Hearts for
wounds he received in Peleliu and Okinawa. He returned to complete an
engineering degree at the University of Texas. He married Dorthy Ann
Hilbert and started a sucessful career as an engineer and later as the
CEO of his own company.
After retirement, he continued to design oil well tools at his
home where he enjoyed entertaining guests playing on his grand piano.
David was a true patriot, a genius, and a great father.
