Nathan Bass was born Aug. 12, 1885 in Vishilishuk, Lithuania and

married Aug. 12, 1917 in Brooklyn, NY and passed away Jan. 2, 1958.

He owned Bass Merchantile Company in North, SC and was successful in

getting farmers to ship the first sweet potatoes up North. His

siblings were Ida, Noah (killed in the Holocaust along with his wife

Elka); and Harry.Esther (nee Cohen) Bass was born in Bialystok, Poland

where she lived till she was 3, then grew up on the Lower East Side;

she worked for a jeweler since the age of 8 or 9 and when married

worked in her husband's store; they were one of the only houses in

North with running indoor toilet and phone; she passed away May 4,

1974. Her siblings were David, Sadye (who married Arthur Green - no

children), Fanny (who married ..Slomin), and Jacob. Noah's parents

were Shmuel Ber Bass and Losky (nee Kashinetsky)- she owned a famous

bakery in Europe after her husband passed away. Esther's father was

Moshe (Moses) Cohen whose mother's name was Rivka and her mother was

Raizel (Rose) (nee Wasserman) Cohen.

Esther (nee Cohen) Bass was born in Bialystok, Poland where she lived
