18. Richard Ellis5 Marks (Emil (Marks)4 Marx, Charles (Marks)3, Abraham A.2, Charles1) was born in Toledo, Lucas County, OH April 1, 1919. Richard died August 6, 1999 in Plymouth, MI, at age 80.

When Richard was age 35 and Mary "Mimi" Arthur Johnson was age 29 they became the parents of Susan Jane Marks September 11, 1954 in Detroit, MI. When Richard was age 36 and Mary "Mimi" Arthur Johnson was age 31 they became the parents of Thomas Aquinas Marks February 14, 1956 in Dearborn, MI. When Richard was age 38 and Mary "Mimi" Arthur Johnson was age 32 they became the parents of William Dean Marks April 27, 1957 in Dearborn, MI. When Richard was age 39 and Mary "Mimi" Arthur Johnson was age 33 they became the parents of Patricia Mary Marks July 23, 1958 in Dearborn, MI. When Richard was age 40 and Mary "Mimi" Arthur Johnson was age 35 they became the parents of James "Buck" Arthur Marks February 12, 1960 in Dearborn, MI. When Richard was age 41 and Mary "Mimi" Arthur Johnson was age 36 they became the parents of Sarah Jane Marks February 8, 1961 in Dearborn, MI. When Richard was age 50 and Mary "Mimi" Arthur Johnson was age 44 they became the parents of Charity Ann Marks September 23, 1969 in Ann Arbor, MI. Richard E. Marks retired from the Ford Motor Company, Purchasing Department in 1984 after 38 years of service with the company. After retirement he worked 12 years representing Lorro Inc. of Detroit. His earliest work was a reporter with the Toledo News-Bee, a Scripps-Howard Newspaper. During World War II, as a fighter pilot in the U.S. Army Air Force, he served in North Africa, Scicily, Italy and China. Called back to active duty in the Korean War, he served as a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force and was held by the Communists in N. Korea for 2 years as a prisoner of war.

He was a 1947 graduate of the University of Michigan and a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars. He had been a Ham Radio Operator for many years and held the station call sign W8UTB. He was an active member of the Stu Rockefeller Radio Club.
