He married Bertha Abelitzky date unknown in Sweden. Bertha was born May 10, 1843 in Kalvarija, Poland. Bertha was the daughter of Mordecai Abelitzki and Esther Meijers. Bertha died August 20, 1909 in Denver, CO, at age 66. When Bertha was age 20 and Levin (Leopold Rosenzweig) Yuri was age 26 they became the parents of Miriam Rosenzweig December 5, 1863 in Goteborg, Sweden. When Bertha was age 22 and Levin (Leopold Rosenzweig) Yuri was age 28 they became the parents of Helena Teresa "Tess" Rosenzweig July 4, 1865 in Sweden. He left Poland for Sweden, where he may have met Bertha. They had several children in Sweden. He went to New York (probably 1868) and sent for his family who had gone to Hull, England. They probably arrived in New York on 4 July 1869.

When Joseph was age 29 and Miriam Rosenzweig was age 26 they became the parents of Frances "Frankie" Frankel April 27, 1890 in Cleveland, OH. When Joseph was age 32 and Miriam Rosenzweig was age 29 they became the parents of Eugene R. Frankel June 22, 1893 in Cleveland, OH.
