3. Tanchum "Thomas"² Pearlstine (Abraham¹) was born in Trzcianne, Poland about 1817. Tanchum died June 2, 1877 in Charleston, SC, at age 59. His body was interred in Charleston, SC, Old Brith Sholom Cemetery.

He married Jeanette Karesh about 1832. Jeanette was born about 1819 in Trzcianne, Poland. Jeanette was the daughter of Jacob Karesh and Rebecca. Jeanette died November 20, 1897 in Brancheville, SC, at age 78. Her body was interred in Charleston, SC, Brith Sholom Cemetery. When Jeanette was age unknown and Tanchum "Thomas" Pearlstine was age unknown they became the parents of Lewis Charles Pearlstine about 1835 in Trzcianne, Poland. When Jeanette was age 23 and Tanchum "Thomas" Pearlstine was age 25 they became the parents of Fayge Etta Pearlstine 1842 in Trestina, Poland. When Jeanette was age 25 and Tanchum "Thomas" Pearlstine was age 27 they became the parents of Isaac Moses Pearlstine December 25, 1844 in Trzcianne, Poland. When Jeanette was age 26 and Tanchum "Thomas" Pearlstine was age 28 they became the parents of Miriam Rose Pearlstine 1845 in Trzcianne, Poland. When Jeanette was age 28 and Tanchum "Thomas" Pearlstine was age 30 they became the parents of Samuel Wolfe "Wolfe" Pearlstine December 1847 in Trzcianne, Poland. When Jeanette was age 30 and Tanchum "Thomas" Pearlstine was age 32 they became the parents of Beila Leah "Lena" Pearlstine December 26, 1849 in Tresteny, Russia. When Jeanette was age 34 and Tanchum "Thomas" Pearlstine was age 36 they became the parents of Sarah Hannah Pearlstine 1853 in Trzcianne, Poland. Jeanette immigrated to destination unknown 1856. When Jeanette was age unknown and Tanchum "Thomas" Pearlstine was age unknown they became the parents of Abraham Joseph Pearlstine about 1859 in Due West, SC.

When Tanchum was age unknown and Jeanette Karesh was age unknown they became the parents of Lewis Charles Pearlstine about 1835 in Trzcianne, Poland. When Tanchum was age 25 and Jeanette Karesh was age 23 they became the parents of Fayge Etta Pearlstine 1842 in Trestina, Poland. When Tanchum was age 30 and Jeanette Karesh was age 28 they became the parents of Samuel Wolfe "Wolfe" Pearlstine December 1847 in Trzcianne, Poland. When Tanchum was age 32 and Jeanette Karesh was age 30 they became the parents of Beila Leah "Lena" Pearlstine December 26, 1849 in Tresteny, Russia. When Tanchum was age 36 and Jeanette Karesh was age 34 they became the parents of Sarah Hannah Pearlstine 1853 in Trzcianne, Poland. Tanchum immigrated to destination unknown 1854. When Tanchum was age unknown and Jeanette Karesh was age unknown they became the parents of Abraham Joseph Pearlstine about 1859 in Due West, SC. Came over in 1854 to New York, then on to Charlestown with son Isaac Moses.

Tanchum "Thomas" Pearlstine and Jeanette Karesh had the following children:

6 ii. Fayge Etta Pearlstine was born in Trestina, Poland 1842. Fayge died August 1856 at age 14. Left Trestina in fall of 1855, after Sukkoh but before Hanukah. Reached Stavicks and Gryeevy but had to turn back until spring (Pesach). Sailed from Liverpool England in summer of 1856 with mother Sarah, sisters Lena, Miriam Rose, Sarah, brothers Louis C and Samuel Wolff (sp), Louis's son --who died enroute to the ship in Berlin--, uncle Jacob. Died at sea after eating grain laced with rat poison. Wrapped in clean white sheet and dropped overboard, weighted by large rocks.

+ 7 iii. Isaac Moses Pearlstine was born December 25, 1844.

8 iv. Miriam Rose Pearlstine was born in Trzcianne, Poland 1845. Miriam died August 26, 1856 at age 11. According to Lena Pearlstine's diary, ate poisoned food aboard ship and died en route to US. Was traveling with mother, sisters Fagah Etta, Lena,and Sarah, brothers Louis and Samuel and Uncle Louis.

+ 9 v. Samuel Wolfe "Wolfe" Pearlstine was born December 1847.

10 vi. Beila Leah "Lena" Pearlstine was born in Tresteny, Russia December 26, 1849. Beila died June 23, 1939 in Charleston, SC, at age 89. Her body was interred in Magnolia, Charleston, SC, Jewish Orthodox Cemetery. She married Hyman R. Berkman about 1866. Hyman was born about 1842. Hyman died date unknown in Charleston, SC, at age unknown. When Hyman was age 24 and Beila Leah "Lena" Pearlstine was age 17 they became the parents of Jacob Berkman May 29, 1867 in Charleston, SC. When Hyman was age unknown and Beila Leah "Lena" Pearlstine was age unknown they became the parents of Agnes Berkman about 1868 in Charleston, SC. When Hyman was age 28 and Beila Leah "Lena" Pearlstine was age 20 they became the parents of Theodore Berkman 1870. (See Hyman R. Berkman for the continuation of this line.)

Beila immigrated to destination unknown 1856. When Beila was age 17 and Hyman R. Berkman was age 24 they became the parents of Jacob Berkman May 29, 1867 in Charleston, SC. When Beila was age unknown and Hyman R. Berkman was age unknown they became the parents of Agnes Berkman about 1868 in Charleston, SC. When Beila was age 20 and Hyman R. Berkman was age 28 they became the parents of Theodore Berkman 1870. Sailed to Charleston, SC in December 1856 via New Ofleans. Ship sailed from Liverpool, England. En route, two sisters were poisoned and died at sea. Diary available, an edited version printed in "America, Sweet Land of Liberty" entitled Voyage to America: eleven weeks on a "sail ship".

11 vii. Sarah Hannah Pearlstine was born in Trzcianne, Poland 1853. Sarah died January 31, 1903 in Trenton, NJ, at age 49. She married Bernard Tobish date unknown. Bernard was born about 1848. When Bernard was age 75 and Sarah Hannah Pearlstine was age 70 they became the parents of Theodore Tobish April 15, 1924 in Newtown, PA. (See Bernard Tobish for the continuation of this line.)

Sarah immigrated to destination unknown 1856. When Sarah was age 70 and Bernard Tobish was age 75 they became the parents of Theodore Tobish April 15, 1924 in Newtown, PA.

12 viii. Abraham Joseph Pearlstine was born in Due West, SC about 1859. Abraham died about 1860 in Due West, SC, at age unknown. Possibly Abraham Jacob. died in early childhood.
