Gertrude died January 18, 1959 in Charleston, SC, at age 91. When Gertrude was age 30 and Jacob Berkman was age 30 they became the parents of Herman Rubin Berkman May 23, 1898 in Charleston, SC. When Gertrude was age 31 and Jacob Berkman was age 32 they became the parents of Selig "Sidney" Berkman July 2, 1899 in Charleston, SC. When Gertrude was age 34 and Jacob Berkman was age 34 they became the parents of Nathan Berkman August 16, 1901 in Charleston, SC. When Gertrude was age 38 and Jacob Berkman was age 38 they became the parents of Rosalia Berkman December 15, 1905 in Charleston, SC.

Died: at home, 4 Carolina Street, Charleston, SC., age 60. Rosalia Berkman Hart writes: "Jeweler by trade, Sexton for K.K.B.S. Synagogue on St. Phillip St. for several years until Sidney bought a home for us on Carolina Street. Then we were all happy. I can remember my mother saying she "lost the best friend she ever had."

9 i. Herman Rubin³ Berkman was born in Charleston, SC May 23, 1898. Herman died January 28, 1988 in James Island, SC, at age 89. His body was interred in Charleston, SC, Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim Cemeter. He married Edythe Funderburg date unknown.

+ 11 iii. Nathan Berkman was born August 16, 1901.

12 iv. Rosalia Berkman was born in Charleston, SC December 15, 1905. Rosalia died January 10, 2000 in Charleston, SC, at age 94. She married Joseph S. Hart Jr. October 2, 1945 in Charleston, SC. Joseph was born August 23, 1901 in John's Island, SC. Joseph died March 10, 1987 in Charleston, SC, at age 85. His body was interred in Charleston, SC, Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim Cemeter.
